Realisation of sectorial studies and energy audits

 What is an audit?

The energy audit applied to a building is a working tool to inspect, study and diagnose the dynamic energy of the building. In most cases the tool analyses how to reduce energy consumption, and therefore, reduce the cost associated with it, as well as the polluting gas emissions.

The tool also intends to maintain and, if possible, improve the thermal comfort, the quality of the lighting and the safety that the various energy subsystems that make up the building. In many cases, a model of energy management and exploitation of the building is also proposed, which optimizes its energy performance.

The Andalusian Regional Government has an important building park, more than 4,500 of which are currently in service, with their consequent energy consumption.

 

Steps to carry out an audit

The REDEJA network offers integral advice to those responsible for the buildings that wish to optimise their energy consumption. For this, it is necessary to:

  1. Realise a preliminary analysis of the energy functioning of the building.

  2. Develop the proposed reforms advised in the preliminary analysis.

  3. Offer advice on the different administrative and technical procedures of the biddings and adjudications.

  4. Facilitate the access to economic aid to undertake these reforms.

Thus, the energy audits carried out in buildings and installations of the Andalusian Regional Government have highlighted the need to undertake a series of measures in order to achieve the objectives set out in them. These measures can be aimed at achieving the energy saving detected or make the diversification of energy sources possible, whether it be in climatisation systems or lighting, through the implementation of renewable energy sources (solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, biomass, etc.).

Up to the beginning of 2011, 296 energy audits have been carried out in buildings of entities adhered to the REDEJA network, 3 sectorial energy studies in health centres, elderly residences and secondary education schools, as well as 358 energy inventories.

Of these studies, more than 519 measures on energy saving, energy efficiency and the implementation of renewable energies have been identified, offering an energy saving of 5,419 toe, an energy diversification of 14,833 toe, an annual economic saving of more than 5,5 M€ and an investment of approximately 31 M€.

In addition, a cogeneration potential of more than 8 MW and a solar thermal surface of almost 1,000 m2 has been identified.
